VA REACH (Virginia) provides crisis prevention and intervention for adults with an Intellectual Disability and/or Developmental Disability and co-occurring complex behavioral health needs. Clinical teams support adults and their systems of care, such as their family, residential providers, day programs, therapists, case managers and others. The teams provide crisis response, training, consultation, and therapeutic respite in conjunction with all of person’s community-based services. A top priority is to help the person remain in his/her home or community placement. The respite centers provide therapeutic environments and short-term resources for stabilization and therapeutic intervention.
