Brian Kelmar

Director of Community Engagement

Brian brings a vast business and personal experience to the team. He has been an entrepreneur, an executive at medium and fortune 500 size companies, and most importantly a proud father of an Autistic son. In his spare time, he volunteers as an advocate for legal reforms for developmentally disabled. What drew him to CA was the people and their enthusiastic commitment to the vision and mission of the organization. His belief in the mission is very special to him based on his own personal experiences in making a positive impact for Virginians with developmental disabilities such as autism and their families. He introduced three Virginia legislative bills and has been the lead advocate for two other bills to improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities such as autism. All five bills have been signed into law. Brian is also a retired Navy Commander and Naval Aviator, with over 500 landings on the aircraft carrier. As marathon runner he literally “runs this town”. You will probably see him running all around Richmond getting ready his next race.
